Help our team create a world free of ALS
In January, I lost my wonderful and loving mother to ALS. On Saturday, June 1st, we will be remembering her and supporting the cause at the ALS Society of Canada's Walk to End ALS. I would like to invite you to join us and/or contribute to getting closer to a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis - a devastating nervous system disease that kills roughly 80 percent of those afflicted within two to five years.
We as a family, have participated in this walk since my mother's diagnosis in 2018. The ALS Society of Canada was instrumental in supporting us during our time of desperate need not only to provide necessary medical equipment such as a hospital bed, a wheelchair, respiratory machines but also for home visits, support groups, professional counselling which helped my mother be well taken care of until the very end.
As you may have heard and seen on media in the last few weeks, research investment for a cure for ALS is paying off and the researchers at Western University have discovered a potential treatment for ALS. This research needs to keep moving forward. We will never get my mother back, but I would like to do everything in my power to help anyone who has been recently diagnosed or will be diagnosed in the future. The hope is that this research will help find a cure for ALS and either stopping or reversing the progression of this cruel disease.
I need your help and support for this cause. Please note that the walk is at the Tony Graham Recreation Complex & Walter Baker Park in Kanata/Stittsville on June 1st, 2024 at 10 am. Please join us at the walk or consider donating.
Thanks,
Sama
