Help us honor Geoff Nimmo's memory
Welcome to Geoff Nimmo's ALS Team Page!
We gather here to honor the cherished memory of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, Geoff Nimmo. Geoff's journey with ALS began late in life, and just 10 months after his diagnosis, he passed away peacefully and on his own terms, shortly after celebrating his 75th birthday.
Among the myriad of memories we hold dear of Geoff, his enduring kindness and boundless generosity stand out. Throughout his lifetime, he consistently sought ways to give back to his community and extend support to those in need – a legacy we are dedicated to continuing in his honor.
We have chosen to fundraise for the ALS Society not only to further the medical understanding and treatment of the disease but because the ALS Society personally provided us with vital support and resources from the first to the last day of Geoff's illness. In a time marked by uncertainty and challenges, they guided us with compassion, offering invaluable assistance and understanding.
This summer, on June 1st, we will be participating in the ALS Canada Walk to End ALS. This extraordinary event relies on the collective efforts of compassionate individuals like you to provide essential support and aid to families affected by ALS. By joining thousands of others, we aim to "walk" in solidarity, celebrating hope and striving towards a world free of ALS. Your contribution, no matter how big or small, makes a significant difference.
Your support will help in the following ways:
· Enhance the day-to-day lives of individuals and families grappling with ALS by facilitating community-based support initiatives throughout Ontario. From home visits to support groups, and providing vital medical equipment like hospital beds, wheelchairs, and stairlifts, these services are offered at no cost to those in need.
· Propel scientific advancement through investments in the ALS Canada Research Program. As the sole national funding source dedicated to ALS research across Canada, this program plays a pivotal role in funding promising research endeavors. The strides made in ALS research over the past five years are testament to the impact of such initiatives, but we must continue to build on this momentum.
Thank you for visiting our page and joining us. Geoff would have loved nothing more than to see all the people he cared for finding a way to come together and serve others. Your generosity honors his memory and helps bring hope to those affected by ALS.
