Mon père a été diagnostiqué avec la SLA, le 10 mars 2023. Notre monde s'est écroulé. La réalisation que mon père, l'homme le plus aimant, aidant et le papa fort, ne sera plus comme avant. Un an plus tard, nous réalisons à quel point cette maladie atteint notre vie, mais surtout celle de mon père. Ma mère, son proche aidant ainsi que sa partenaire de vie, est toujours à ses côtés. Nous réalisions que malgré tous nos efforts, cette maladie nous arrache la santé et le bien-être de mon père. 

Certains ne le savent peut-être pas, mais mon père est un ancien joueur de hockey semi-professionnel dans la LHJMQ. Il a connu plusieurs joueurs qui ont percer dans la LNH, dont Mario Lemieux, avec qui il a jouer à Laval. Il a aussi fait parti des Olympiques de Hull, dont il a eu le record du défenseur ayant marquer le plus de but dans un match ( un record qu'y a été seulement battu en 2013 ).  Mon père était et est toujours un grand amateur de sport, il a jouer à la balle molle, au baseball, au football, au hockey et ainsi qu'au golf. 

Cette maladie m'a fait réaliser que notre vie ne sera plus jamais comme avant.

My father was diagnosed with ALS on March 10, 2023. Our world fell apart. The realization that my father, the most loving, supportive man and strong dad, will no longer be the same. A year later, we realize to what extent this illness affects our lives, but especially that of my father. My mother, his caregiver as well as his life partner, is always by his side. We realized that despite all our efforts, this illness was taking away my father's health and well-being.

Some people may not know this, but my father is a former semi-professional hockey player in the QMJHL. He knew several players who broke into the NHL, including Mario Lemieux, with whom he played in Laval. He was also part of the Hull Olympics, where he had the record for defender having scored the most goals in a match (a record that was only broken in 2013). My father was and still is a huge sports fan, playing softball, baseball, football, hockey and golf.

This illness made me realize that our life will never be the same again.
