Help Gibby's Finest End ALS
On June 22, Bob's team Gibby's Finest will be participating in their first ALS Canada Walk to End ALS. Help Gibby's Finest raise awareness so that other families do not have to hear this diagnosis!
From the onset of symptoms to the day of diagnosis in Dec 2023 was a long road. It took finding a doctor who was curious enough to not brush off the symptoms, navigating referrals to specialists, undergoing countless diagnostic tests - and then after eliminating everything that it wasn't, finally getting the one answer you didnt want to hear ... You have ALS, I'm sorry. The silence that followed was unbearable. But the hardest part was having to tell family and friends.
It has not been easy but Bob continues to look at life through his Rose Coloured Glasses. With the support and love of our family and friends we are trying to make a difference and break that silence so that other families can have hope for a treatment and a cure. Lets make ALS a thing of the past.
Your support will help to:
- Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. There’s been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century – we need to keep building on this momentum.
- Create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based services throughout Ontario – this includes home visits and support groups – as well as necessary medical equipment like hospital beds, wheelchairs, stairlifts, and other items that increase safety in the home, at no cost to those who need them.
Join Bob Gibson's team Gibby's Finest in making a difference. Please consider donating to our team fundraising page as we work toward a world free of ALS.
United, we are stronger together!
