Help me create a world free of ALS

Hello my name is Kelly Ann I am a private caregiver-End of life Doula

Tom or as I called him Sunshine

I had the pleasure to care for Tom who passed away just over two years. Tom was a great man who was kind, funny, patent and always willing to teach me new things we shared so many conversations, laughs, tears but the tears were really only one sided and that was me. Tom helped me understand what it was like to live with ALS and how I could help make a difference in people's lives. I owe a lot of gratitude to Tom for giving me inspiration and encouragement to follow my heart to make a difference in this sometimes-cruel world.

Mighty Mouse or as i call her my ray of of sunshine

Mighty Mouse is an amazing woman who affectionately earned her name Mighty Mouse from her son. she may be small, but she is mighty in so many ways . she has put up a long fight with ALS and is still fighting. Mighty Mouse always did good in life and was never selfish she was a nurse for many years taking care of people but gave it all up when her husband was diagnosed with ALS and needed care she was by his side till his last day. One year after his passing Mighty Mouse was also diagnosed with ALS  she has fought with everything she has in her and even though her journey is coming to an end she still brings so much joy and happiness to everyone especially to her son and his wife and two of her most favorite people  her two beautiful granddaughters  that she loves more than anything in this world.

I know that I cant cure ALS or help the world in what I do but Because of those two people Tom and Mighty Mouse and the way that ALS has impacted not only these two beautiful souls but the amazing families they both have I will always do everything I can to help fight to find a cure for ALS as well keep learning and teaching others how to care for people that have been diagnosed with ALS  that being said ...............

This spring, I will be participating in the ALS Canada Walk to End ALS. Now more than ever, the ALS community needs our support to provide hope and help to families affected by ALS. That’s why we're joining thousands of others, a part of a passionate and motivated community to “walk” in celebration of hope and a world free of ALS. Please consider supporting our team and donating towards this important cause.

Your support will help to:

  • Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. There’s been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century – we need to keep building on this momentum.
  • Create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based services throughout Ontario – this includes home visits and support groups – as well as necessary medical equipment like hospital beds, wheelchairs, stairlifts, and other items that increase safety in the home, at no cost to those who need them.

Join our team in making a difference. Please consider donating to our team fundraising page as we work toward a world free of ALS.
