Lets show ALS Who's Boss!

Let’s Do It for the MainPrize

As we approach the one-year anniversary of losing Paul—my incredible father—to his courageous battle with ALS, I find myself reflecting not just on the pain, but on the love, the strength, and the legacy he left behind.

There is nothing more meaningful to me than honouring his life by continuing the fight against ALS, even now, when he no longer can.

The Walk to End ALS is my opportunity to raise both awareness and critical funds in my father’s name. It’s my way of pushing back against a disease that takes so much—and giving back to a community that supported us when we needed it most.

Navigating the realities of this devastating diagnosis was overwhelming and often heartbreaking. There were countless moments my mom and I looked at each other in complete exhaustion and despair.

That’s when ALS Canada stepped in.

They were more than just a resource—they were a lifeline. From emotional support and expert guidance to providing the essential equipment that allowed my dad to live his final days with dignity and some comfort—ALS Canada gave us the strength we didn’t know we had.

And that’s why I walk.  Walking for a future where ALS no longer has the final word.

But I can’t do it alone. I’m asking for your support—to help us raise the critical funds needed to make a difference. Your donation will help families like mine face the unimaginable, with a little more grace and a lot more hope.

Your support will:

  • Create better day-to-day realities for people living with ALS through equipment like hospital beds, wheelchairs, and stairlifts—at no cost to families.

  • Support emotional care through home visits, support groups, and community outreach across Ontario.

  • Fuel life-changing research through the ALS Canada Research Program—the only nationally dedicated fund for ALS research. In the last five years, we’ve seen more progress than in the past century. We cannot stop now.

Please consider donating to our team fundraising page as we work toward a world without ALS. Your support is needed now more than ever.

Let’s show ALS who’s boss.
Let’s do it for the MainPrize.

With all my heart,

April Mainprize
