Help me create A World Free of ALS

At the ALS Society of Canada, our vision is A World Free of ALS.  It's my honour to serve as Chair of the Society's board of directors.  Once again this June I will participate in the annual ALS Canada Walk to End ALS.  As I do every year, I walk in memory of my friend Cathy Payne.

This year marks my 20th anniversay Walk!  In recognition of this milestone Andy and I have donated $10,000 to the Society to create a Walk to End ALS matching program.  That means we will match every dollar you donate!  Please help us reach my 20th anniversary Walk goal of raising $20,000.

Earlier this year the ALS Society of Canada received our first-ever support from the Government of Ontario.  This generous support will help us reach our goal -- but we need as much help as we can get to eradicate this terrible disease.

Your support will help:

  • Fund promising research by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. There’s been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century – but we need to keep building on this momentum.

  • Create a better day-to-day reality for people living with ALS, their families, and their caregivers.   The Society provides crucial community-based services throughout Ontario – this includes home care visits, education, advocacy initiatives, and support groups, as well as medical equipment like hospital beds, wheelchairs, stairlifts, and other items that increase safety in the home -- at no cost to those who need them.

Join our team in making a difference. Please consider donating to my fundraising page as together we work toward A World Free of ALS.

Thank you!

Richard
