Tejinder Toor, born July 19th, 1968, passed away peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, February 19th, 2025, at the age of 56, after his gruelling nine-month battle with ALS. He was a loving father to his three sons, Armaan, Jyot and Ratan and a devoted husband to his wife, Tejpreet. He was also a loving “Chacha” (Uncle) to his three nieces, Gurbir, Balmeet, Harleen, and son-in-laws, Devin and Ravinder. He was also a beloved grandfather to Neil and baby Noah. Besides his close friends, he will also be missed by his brothers, Sukhwinder and Harry, his sister-in-law, Ripple, and all his extended family.
Tejinder was the very essence of laughter and light. Every person he came across was blessed with the comfort and warmth of love in their hearts. He loved his friends and family dearly and never failed to spread his joy and humour to those around him. Tejinder was a very honest and objective person and was not shy to express his opinions frankly. He was an individual with a passion for creating meaning out of the mundanity surrounding him. He had a knack for processes and creation, always thinking outside the box with creative lenses. In essence, he sought to make the world a better place through his caring and driven nature. Whether it was finishing the entire basement of his family’s home, installing pot lights, or a new dishwasher or toilet, or repainting the house, he prided himself on his DIY skills and always had some projects on the go. He was an expert on maintaining his home and always have it looking spic and span.
Another source of his joy and pride were his cars and he would spend hours detailing them, occasionally upgrading them himself with a new amp or stereo. Tejinder’s desire to make things better and more meaningful showcased his love and care for even the littlest things and he always strived for perfection in everything he did. He loved the outdoors and took a moment to soak in the beauty of the world around him while on camping trips, walks and bike rides around Ottawa. His hobbies were as diverse as his talents—DJing, golfing, and detailing cars were just a few of the passions he pursued with enthusiasm and dedication. He had become an avid golfer and was happiest on the golf course. He also loved travelling with Europe being one of his favourite destinations, particularly Venice. He loved socializing and often ended up being the life of the party with his witty humour. He embraced every challenge, always seeking to grow and push himself to new heights.
In his last moments, Tejinder reminded his closest friends and family of the importance of cherishing the love we have for each other and to enjoy life to the fullest. His light touched the lives of so many, and his absence will be deeply felt. Though he is no longer with us, his laughter, kindness, and unwavering spirit will live on in the hearts and memories of all who had the privilege of knowing him. So long as our memory of him exists, he will never be truly gone.
His selflessness was also reflected in his desire to donate his body to ALS research.

Your support will help to:
Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. There’s been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century – we need to keep building on this momentum. Create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based services throughout Ontario. This includes home visits and support groups, virtual programming, and information resources, which are all critical in improving the quality of life for people living with and affected by ALS.
Join our team in making a difference. Please consider donating to our team fundraising page as we work toward a world free of ALS.
