This summer we will be participating in the ALS Canada Walk to End ALS. 

Losing my mom to ALS changed my life in ways I’m still learning to understand. ALS is a disease that takes so much, so quickly, and watching someone you love fight it is something you never forget. My mom faced every day with a kind of quiet strength that still guides me. Even when her body grew weaker, her love, her humour, and her way of making everyone feel cared for never faded.

Walking in her honour isn’t just about remembering her—it’s about carrying forward the parts of her that ALS could never touch. Her kindness. Her courage. Her belief in showing up for others. This walk is my way of keeping her close, of turning grief into something that helps someone else’s family hold on a little longer.

ALS is still a disease without a cure. Families are still getting the same devastating diagnosis mine did. Research, support, and hope all depend on communities like ours stepping forward. That’s why this fundraiser matters so much to me. Every donation, every share, every step we take brings us closer to a future where no one has to lose someone they love the way I lost my mom.

I walk for Cathy. I walk for every family living this reality. And I walk because love doesn’t end—it moves us forward.
