Bruce's Battle
Help our team create a world free of ALS
Help our team create a world free of ALS
Another year and another walk. Bruce's Battle although a smaller team than when it began (most importantly missing the star "Bruce") will continue to talk and walk to raise awareness and cheer when we do have a world FREE of ALS.
Bruce was a legend :) A loving husband and Dad. He was a Brampton Firefighter, and an avid motorcycle rider. He lived his life to the fullest right till the very end. Now his daughter, son-in-law and his grandkids will continue to walk in his honor. Bruce passed away in August of 2015 following his battle with this debilitating disease. His father Clare McHaffie also battled and passed away due to complications with ALS.
OUR 13 year walking for ALS. Normally we walk in the Georgetown ALS walk (now Georgetown/Caledon) but this year we will take our walk "on the road". We are participating in the virtual "Walk for ALS" still on June 6 but instead of Georgetown we will be walking in, through and around Harrison Park in Owen Sound.
"Until we meet again, shiny side up and ride on!"
This summer we will be participating in the ALS Canada Walk to End ALS. Now more than ever, the ALS community needs our support to provide hope and help to families affected by ALS. Thatâs why we're joining thousands of others, a part of a passionate and motivated community to âwalkâ in celebration of hope and a world free of ALS. Please consider supporting our team and donating towards this important cause.
Your support will help to:
- Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. Thereâs been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century â we need to keep building on this momentum.
- Create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based services throughout Ontario. This includes support groups, virtual programming, and information resources, which are all critical in improving the quality of life for people living with and affected by ALS.
Join our team in making a difference. Please consider donating to our team fundraising page as we work toward a world free of ALS.
United, we are stronger together!
