Help our team create a world free of ALS
Help our team create a world free of ALS
Just over 3 years ago I was diagnosed with ALS. The journey this far has been challenging as bit by bit I have become fully dependent on an army of caregivers, led by my heroic husband. Every day has multiple hurdles to overcome, but despite the difficult circumstances, we choose to find joy and laughter in most moments. We are so grateful for the support we have from family members, friends, neighbours and various health care professionals. However, this journey has only one destination. There is no cure, only symptom management and progressive suffering.
This is why, once again, we are appealing to our community of friends and family to join us in donating to this year's ALS Canada Walk to End ALS.
We will be joining thousands of others during the month of June across Canada, as part of a passionate and motivated community to âwalkâ in celebration of hope and a world free of ALS. On Saturday, June 6th we will be participating in the Walk at the University of Waterloo. Come walk with us, if you can!
Your support will help to:
- Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. Thereâs been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century â we need to keep building on this momentum.
- Create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based services throughout Ontario. This includes support groups, virtual programming, and information resources, which are all critical in improving the quality of life for people living with and affected by ALS.
Join our team in making a difference. Please consider donating to our team fundraising page as we work toward a world free of ALS.
United, we are stronger together
