Help us create a world free of ALS!
We are participating in the ALS Canada Walk To End ALS in support of my Momma Terri again this June. My mom was diagnosed with ALS just over two years ago, and in that short time she has already experienced so many challenges as a result of this very aggressive disease. Most significant of these has been the almost total loss of her ability to talk, and more recently, a decline in her mobility.
There is no currently no cure for ALS and few treatment options for most people living with the disease. The ALS Canada Walk is an important event that not only raises awareness about ALS, but also much needed funds for research into this devastating disease.
I am participating in this walk not only to show her as much love support as possible, but also to contribute to a greater cause that aims to improve the lives of those living with ALS. I am hoping to help spread awareness about this disease while fundraising over the next few months, and I truly appreciate any support you can give! Now more than ever, the ALS community needs our support to provide hope and help to families affected by ALS.
Your support will help to:
- Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. There’s been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century – we need to keep building on this momentum.
- Create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based services throughout Ontario. This includes support groups, virtual programming, and information resources, which are all critical in improving the quality of life for people living with and affected by ALS.
