Walking for Brian
A message from Brian;
My name is Brian Heaney. I have ALS. ALS stands for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis which in latin means all your muscles die and then you die. See als.ca for more information. My ALS is still progressing. This year I lost more of my voice and I stopped eating solid foods so I don't choke. I've added 3 new machines to my daily routine, all provided by the ALS Society through your donations. To help with sleep, tube feeding, and clearing phlegm from my mouth.
I am now 57, in a wheelchair and barely able to move or talk. But I can still drive my electric wheelchair with my thumb wrapped around the joystick! I am extremely grateful to have seen my children grow up to be wonderful and thoughtful adults. My wife Tammie is with me 24/7 and has been amazing through all of this. I depend on her and my PSWs every hour of every day.
I wish to thank everyone who walked or contributed or sent me a nice word in the past, very much appreciated! Please forward this note on to everyone you know. Time is critical and your support means everything!
Please make a donation and you will help support research and support those already with the disease. This disease is not hereditary in most cases. Anyone can get it (1 in 300). Researchers need funding to find a cure for this horrible disease. Governments provide no to little funding.
