Help Team Sgoilie create a world free of ALS
This summer Team Sgoilie will be participating for our 18th year - in the ALS Canada Walk to End ALS. Now more than ever, the ALS community needs our support to provide hope and help to families affected by ALS. Our family knows first hand how important this annual fundraising initiative is. When our mother, Joanne, was diagnosed in 2007, ALS Canada provided our family with crucial homecare assistance - which included tailored medical support, respite, and access to assistive devices. This allowed her to remain in her home and live out her final months and days with privacy and dignity.
Thatâs why we're joining thousands of others, a part of a passionate and motivated community to âwalkâ in celebration of hope and a world free of ALS. Over the past 17 years we've managed to raise over $76K - and we won't stop until there is an effective treatment or a cure for ALS. Please consider supporting our team and donating towards this important cause. The funds raised go towards much needed research that is working on identifying treatments and a cure for ALS, as well as providing support and care for those who are living with ALS.
Your support will help to:
- Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. Thereâs been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century â we need to keep building on this momentum.
- Create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based services throughout Ontario. This includes support groups, virtual programming, and information resources, which are all critical in improving the quality of life for people living with and affected by ALS.
Join our team in making a difference. Please consider donating to our team fundraising page as we work toward a world free of ALS.
United, we are stronger together - with love, Team Sgoilie
