My 11th year in the Walk for ALS - Help us create a world free of ALS!

I'm honoured to be participating in my 11th walk this year!

I've been walking in support of my Uncle Brian, who is currently living with ALS and in memory of my Grandma Vicki, who passed away on my 1st birthday from ALS. This year I also walk in support of my husbands' coworker and friend Greg, who has been recently diagnosed.

As more and more people around me are affected by this terrible disease, my resolve is even stronger to raise funds for fighting back against this devasting disease.

ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) - also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a terminal and devastating disease that takes away someone’s ability to walk, talk, eat, swallow, and eventually breathe – often within two to five years from diagnosis. The ALS Society of Manitoba provides invaluable support to people living with ALS/MND and they contribute to the only dedicated funding mechanism for ALS research in Canada – the ALS Canada Research Program. The ALS Society of Manitoba relies on fundraising efforts and generous donors to provide help and hope to people affected by ALS/MND.

If you are able to donate, I would sincerely appreciate your support.

Your support will help to:

  • create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based support throughout Manitoba as well as necessary medical equipment like wheelchairs, liftchairs, mobility aids and other items that increase safety in the home, at no cost to those who need them.
  • further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. There’s been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century – we need to keep building on this momentum.

Please consider donating to my fundraising page as we work towards a world free of ALS/MND.

Your support is needed now more than ever - we are stronger together!
