In May 2023, Louise began experiencing the first signs of ALS. She was diagnosed in October 2023, and after facing this terrible disease with strength and grace, she passed away in November 2024.
Although I had only met Louise a handful of times before her passing, her life and her loss had a profound impact on me. In the months that followed, I became very close with my partner's dad, and through grief we found support, friendship, and a deeper connection. In many ways, Louise's love continues to bring people together.
Louise had a special love for flowers and gardening, and her memory reminds us that even after someone is gone, the love they planted continues to grow.
That's why I am participating in this year's ALS Walk with Team Love Grows On. Whether our contribution is large or small, I wanted to do something to honour her life, raise awareness, and support those affected by ALS.
