Help me create a world free of ALS
Help me create a world free of ALS
Thank you so much for visiting our page for ALS Canada Walk to End ALS. Over the years the support we have received from our friends and family has been unbelievable. We could not have got on without everyone that was there for us along the way.
We will forever remember and walk for Bruce, my amazing father that fought as hard as he could to survive as long as he could with this terrible disease. Dad was a firefighter in Brampton, he loved his motorcycle and trailer and enjoyed travelling all over with my Mom Carol.
When Dad was diagnosed in 2013 our family was unfortuantely very familiar with ALS. My grandfather Clare McHaffie also lost his battle with ALS.
Since my Dad's death in August of 2015, so much has changed. The most amzing thing that has happened was the birth of his two grandchildren. My kids will walk along with myself and my husband year after year to continue to raise awareness and we will see a day that ALS is no longer a terminal disease.
Shiny Side Up! <3
Your support will help to:
- Create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based support throughout Ontario – like home visits and support groups – as well as necessary medical equipment like hospital beds, wheelchairs, stairlifts and other items that increase safety in the home, at no cost to those who need them.
- Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. There’s been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century – we need to keep building on this momentum.
