Thank you so much for visiting and supporting Bruce’s Battle, the team was created in 2014 by Bruce and his daughter Alyse. Sadly Bruce passed away in 2015, but a Father Daughter team never stops. This team will rally and continue, carried on by Bruce’s daughter and family whom carry his memory on every year.
Bruce was a Brampton firefighter and had his own business, he worked hard but luckily played hard too. He loved to ride his motorcycle as well as go to the family cottage or take their trailer and bikes on vacation with his wife Carol and family and friends.
Bruce’s ALS was hereditary which is fairly rare, his Dad Clare passed away 25 years almost to the day before Bruce after his battle with ALS.
Life since we first started participating in the walk in 2014 has changed significantly. Bruce’s granddaughter and grandson now walk proudly in his memory. We will never stop walking, supporting and working towards a future WITHOUT ALS or at least to a time when ALS is not a life sentence, we have come so far and WE WILL be apart of the future to end ALS.
Please consider supporting our team and donating towards this important cause.
Your support will help to:
- Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. There’s been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century – we need to keep building on this momentum.
- Create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based services throughout Ontario – this includes home visits and support groups – as well as necessary medical equipment like hospital beds, wheelchairs, stairlifts, and other items that increase safety in the home, at no cost to those who need them.
Join our team in making a difference. Please consider donating to our team fundraising page as we work toward a world free of ALS.
United, we are stronger together!
