Help Gibby’s Finest end ALS
This spring, Gibby's Finest will be participating in their first ALS Canada Walk to End ALS. Help other families not have to hear this diagnosis!
After searching for answers on what was happening to my husband Bob, going from one doctor and specialist to another, and so many diagnostic tests, searching the web for information, and one of the hardest parts, convincing doctors that there truly was something wrong, we finally got our answer. There is no easy way to deliver the news, it's simply, You have ALS, I'm sorry. Then the silence that follows is unbearable because you are waiting for, "but the good news is there is a treatment for this, or there is a cure for this". But there is just silence. Then the silence is followed by such a sense of helplessness because there is nothing more to do but wait ...
Since Bob's diagnosis in Dec 2023, he chose to accept he has ALS and not let it change his outlook on life. Bob sees everything through Rose Coloured Glasses and is the bravest person I know. And with the support and love of our family and friends we are trying to make a difference and break that silence so that other families can have hope for a treatment and cure. Lets make ALS a thing of the past.

Your support will help to:
- Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. There’s been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century – we need to keep building on this momentum.
- Create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based support throughout Ontario – like home visits and support groups – as well as necessary medical equipment like hospital beds, wheelchairs, stairlifts and other items that increase safety in the home, at no cost to those who need them.
Join Team Gibby's Finest in making a difference. Please consider donating to our team fundraising page as we work toward a world free of ALS.
Your support is needed now more than ever – we are stronger together!
