As you may or may not know, my Dad lost his battle with ALS on January 29^th, 2023.  It is a hard pill to swallow when someone you love is diagnosed with an uncurable disease and inevitably passes away.  But it is even harder when there isn’t a damn thing you can do to help them.  

My Dad was the strongest, most wonderful man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.  He tried to stay as positive in all aspects of his life and the cards that he had been dealt with over the last years of his life, which I am quite sure was not an easy thing to do.  He was accepting and welcoming of everyone he ever met and tried to help anyone and everyone if he was able.  I miss being able to talk to him and joke with him.  Although sometimes it was hard to hear, he always offered his opinions that he thought would help me through any and all situations.  He and my beautiful mom taught me what true love really is, both in life and as a parent.

So, I am walking and fighting for my Dad again in the ALS walk in June.  My dad was diagnosed with ALS in January 2022 and was very adamant that he be and remain as independent as he could be, for as long as he could be.   It is just one small thing that I can do in his memory to bring more attention to this devastating disease.  It has been put on the back burner for far too many years and more research and attention that needs to be brought to it.  The patients, the families, friends and caregivers of those affected.
