Help me create a world free of ALS
Help me create a world free of ALS
Hello neighbours, friends, and family,
I hope this email finds everyone safe and healthy.
June is ALS month and my family and I have been participating in the Walk for ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease since 2001. My Mom succumbed to this terrible disease in 2002 and my cousin passed in 2023.
In the past few years, "The Ice Bucket Challenge" has brought awareness to this devastating disease. This is a neuromuscular disease which causes a progressive degeneration and eventual death of the nerves that control movement. Many are left completely paralyzed, unable to communicate, eat or breathe. It can affect anyone, any age, any ethnicity. Everyday 2 or 3 Canadians are diagnosed with ALS.
Please join us on Saturday June 27th. at 10.00 am in Whitby at the Heydon Shore Pavillion. Anyone participating in the walk is welcome back to my home to honour my Mom and cousin.
A heartfelt thank you to all who participated in the Durham Walk last year, we successfully raised over $5,000. Thank you for your generous support, any contribution is greatly appreciated.
