Why I Walk

I’m walking in memory of my mom, Karen.

She was truly one of a kind—so full of love, strength, and warmth. ALS took her from us way too soon, but it never took away who she was. She faced every part of this disease with so much courage, and even in the hardest moments, she never stopped being the amazing mom, friend, and person we all loved.

Losing her was the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through. There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t think about her. This walk is my way of honoring her, keeping her memory alive, and doing something—anything—to fight back against ALS.

I walk because she mattered. Because she still matters. And because no one should have to go through what she did.
