Help Me Create A World Free of ALS
Help Me Create A World Free of ALS
Once again this year I am fundraising to help create a world without ALS. On June 6th, I will join thousands of others across the province and around the country as part of the 2026 ALS Canada Walk to End ALS.
This year's Walk is a very special one for me. It will be my last Walk as a member of the ALS Society of Canada's board of directors. After many years as a board director and chair, my time at ALS Canada comes to an end this year -- and I want to go out with a bang!
As always, I walk in honour of my friend Cathy Payne. After a valiant fight against this terrible disease, Cathy died from ALS almost 22 years ago. While she has been gone a long time now, Cathy's strenght and spirit live on in all of those currently living with ALS.
I am donating $5,000 to this year's Walk to End ALS. I hope you will help me reach my goal of matching that amount and turning $5,000 into $10,000!
Your support will help to:
- Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. There’s been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century – we need your help to keep building on this momentum.
- Create a better day-to-day reality for people living with ALS, their families and care givers by providing community-based services throughout Ontario. This includes support groups, virtual programming, and information resources, which are all critical in improving the quality of life for people living with and affected by ALS.
- Provide much needed medical eqipment like hospital beds, wheelchairs, stair lifts, and other items that increase safety in the home and provide dignity to those living with ALS for as long as their time lasts -- all provided at NO COST to those that need them.
Join me in making a difference. Please consider donating to my fundraising page as together we work toward A World Free of ALS.
I appreicate your support!
Richard
