My name is Liz Brown and I was diagnosed with ALS this past December. Although I was only 36 years old, ALS does not discriminate when it comes to age or gender! A little bit more about me; I am a single mother to an amazing ten year old daughter. I also have a rare dual diagnosis of ALS (2025) and MS (2016).
This summer we will be participating in the ALS Canada Walk to End ALS. Now more than ever, the ALS community needs our support to provide hope and help to families affected by ALS. Thatâs why we're joining thousands of others, a part of a passionate and motivated community to âwalkâ in celebration of hope and a world free of ALS. Please consider supporting our team and donating towards this important cause.
Your support will help to:
- Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. Thereâs been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century â we need to keep building on this momentum.
- Create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based services throughout Ontario. This includes support groups, virtual programming, and information resources, which are all critical in improving the quality of life for people living with and affected by ALS.
ALS has affected my beloved ability to be a motor mouth so I felt drawn to name our team VocaLIZing for ALS! It's time to raise our voices (the best we can!) to help find a cure to end ALS. To vocaLIZe and make a difference, join our team! Please consider donating to our team fundraising page and join us for the walk, as we work toward a world free of ALS.
The walk for Niagara Region will take place Saturday, June 6th located at Lock 3, 1932 Welland Canal Parkway, St. Catharines.
Registration starts at 10am with opening ceremony beginning at 1030am
United, we are stronger together!
