This summer we will be participating in the ALS Canada Walk to End ALS. Now more than ever, the ALS community needs our support to provide hope and help to families affected by ALS. 

I received my sentence July 19, 2023. I say sentence because that's what it's felt like, a death sentence. ALS has robbed me of many things and it's also brought my family closer together. I miss many things about my former life but I'm grateful for the supports not just for myself but also for my family that ALS Canada provides. They have been close to having to make cuts because of a lack of funds. They receive no federal funding or advertising money like the others like cancer and heart and stroke but depend on word of mouth to raise funds they so desperately need. They are getting closer to a cure but need funds for research as well. I don't know if it'll be in time to save me but it will save other. Every donation helps another family dealing with this devastating disease.

• Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. There’s been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century – we need to keep building on this momentum.
• Create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based services throughout Ontario. This includes support groups, virtual programming, and information resources, which are all critical in improving the quality of life for people living with and affected by ALS.
