Help me create a world free of ALS

Just over 3 years ago my sister Kendra was diagnosed with ALS, a debilitating neurodegenerative disease, causing progressive loss of muscle control.  She can no longer walk, talk or eat, needs assistance with breathing and requires round the clock care and support.  Throughout this journey, her courage and positive spirit have been remarkable to witness, as she and her husband John (her fulltime caregiver) have faced each new hurdle with grace.

Sadly, there is only one outcome, as no cure exists and few medications are available to help with symptom management.   That is why I am appealing to friends and family to join me in donating to this year's ALS Canada Walk to End ALS.

During the month of June I will be participating in the ALS Canada Walk to End ALS. Now more than ever, the ALS community needs our support to provide hope and help to families affected by ALS. That’s why I am joining thousands of others, a part of a passionate and motivated community to “walk” in celebration of hope and a world free of ALS. Please consider donating towards this important cause.

Your support will help to:

  • Further scientific progress by investing in the ALS Canada Research Program, which funds promising ALS research. The ALS Canada Research Program is the only national dedicated source of funding for ALS research across Canada. This program provides peer-reviewed grants to researchers whose work has the greatest potential to advance the field of ALS. There’s been more progress made in ALS research in the last five years than over the last century – we need to keep building on this momentum.
  • Create a better day-to-day reality for people and families living with ALS by providing community-based services throughout Ontario. This includes support groups, virtual programming, and information resources, which are all critical in improving the quality of life for people living with and affected by ALS.

Join our team in making a difference. Please consider donating to our team fundraising page as we work toward a world free of ALS.
