This summer, our family will be participating in the ALS Canada Walk to End ALS — and this year, it’s deeply personal.

In October 2025, my husband was diagnosed with ALS. Since that day, our world has changed in ways we never imagined. As a family, we are learning, adjusting, and holding each other a little tighter.

We are walking for him.

We are walking for his strength, his courage, and the way he continues to show up each day — even on the hardest ones. One of his favourite quotes is, “Don’t let the hard days win.” And that’s exactly what we’re trying to do.

ALS brings hard days. But it also brings perspective, resilience, and an incredible community. We refuse to let the hard days win.

We are walking for hope.
We are walking for progress.
We are walking for a future without ALS.

• Fund critical research through the ALS Canada Research Program — the only national, dedicated source of funding for ALS research in Canada. There has been more progress in the past five years than in the previous century, and continued funding is essential to keep that momentum going.

• Provide community-based services and supports for families living with ALS across Ontario — including home visits, support groups, virtual programming, and trusted information resources that make a meaningful difference in day-to-day life.

We don’t know what the road ahead looks like, but we do know this: we will keep showing up. We will keep walking. And we won’t let the hard days win.
